Southwest Consulting Group, Inc. is a consulting firm founded in 1994, specializing in expert witness and consulting services within the mechanical, plumbing and electrical disciplines. We are located in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego County, and we perform consulting services for all of California and the Southwest region of the United States, including Nevada and Arizona. Our firm has been involved in over 4000 court cases of varying complexity.
Prior to 1994, George Swink, Raymond Alcaraz, and Jeanie Frazier McCarthy, founders of the firm, were part of Dunn-Lee-Smith-Klein and Associates, a mechanical and electrical design engineering company founded in 1967. Dunn-Lee-Smith-Klein provided design services from the schematic phase to as-built phase of numerous commercial and residential projects throughout San Diego and the United States. During the 1980’s, as construction defect cases were on the rise, Mr. Swink and Mr. Alcaraz began providing expert witness services in addition to their design and construction services. Thus, Southwest Consulting Group was established.
In 2000, Mr. Alcaraz retired and Bradley Barr, who had worked alongside Mr. Alcaraz since 1996, took over the electrical consulting portion of the firm. He is now the Vice President of the firm and brings many years of expertise as an electrical contractor for a variety of residential and commercial projects. Doug McKittrick, who works closely with Mr. Barr in the electrical department, has been with the firm since 2001.
In 2007, Mr. Swink passed away and Mr. Patrick “Tony” Stremel took over the mechanical consulting portion of the firm. He is a licensed professional mechanical engineer with expertise in several areas including plumbing, HVAC and fire protection. Mr. Stremel worked very closely with Mr. Swink from 2002 until his death. Mr. Stremel is now a shareholder and President of the firm.
Also in 2007, Mr. James Miller became Vice President of the firm. Mr. Miller has been with the firm since its inception in 1994, working closely with Mr. Swink and Mr. Stremel on numerous case files. He brings over 15 years of expertise in expert witness consulting to our mechanical department.
